Therapy Models
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): ACT is a mindfulness-based behavioral therapy that helps individuals accept difficult thoughts and emotions rather than fighting or avoiding them. It emphasizes living in alignment with personal values and building psychological flexibility through techniques such as mindfulness, acceptance, and committed action.
Values-based Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP): Integrates traditional ERP with the principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). It involves guiding individuals to face feared situations or thoughts (exposure) and refrain from compulsive behaviors (response prevention), while grounding the work in personal values. This approach helps clients connect with what truly matters to them, such as relationships, personal growth, or integrity, as motivation for tolerating discomfort and resisting compulsions. It fosters long-term behavior change.
Somatic-Focused Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): Integrates EMDR therapy's trauma processing with somatic interventions, focusing on body awareness and nervous system regulation. This approach acknowledges the interconnectedness of mind and body in trauma and aims to release trauma stored in the body. By combining EMDR's structured protocol with somatic practices, it enhances healing from trauma and fosters a greater sense of self-awareness and emotional regulation.
